Q: What is the grade appeal process?

A: There is an appeal process for students who wish to contest grades assigned by a faculty member. Click here to review the policy. Download the following appeal forms (must have SU Portal access):

Q: How can my student transfer credit from another institution?

Q: How does my student register for classes?

A: Registration is an exciting time at Stevenson when you will get the opportunity to select classes that will allow you to explore new topics, delve deeper into your field of study, and progress along the pathway to graduation. Click here to view the all-encompassing Registration Guide.

Q: What are the policies for final exams?

A: All students are required to take final examinations.

If a student misses an examination because of an emergency or illness, the student must contact the faculty member as soon as possible. If the student cannot reach the faculty member, the student should contact the Office of Student Success. The faculty member will work with the student to provide an opportunity for the student to take the examination at a rescheduled time. At that point, the student should contact The Academic Link to reschedule the examination.

Students will not be permitted to reschedule for reasons other than documented emergencies or illness. A student who is scheduled to take three or more exams in one day should contact the Registrar’s Office no later than the Monday of the last week of classes regarding rescheduling an exam. The Registrar’s Office will work with the student’s faculty to determine which exam will be rescheduled. Requests received after the Monday of the last week of classes cannot be accommodated.

A: The Dean’s List is posted within three weeks of the end of the fall and spring semesters.

As a member of the Stevenson University community, you are offered the opportunity to purchase software at special academic pricing. The Office of Information Technology and the University Store have partnered with a third-party vendor to offer this opportunity to all students, faculty and staff. Q: How can I contact Campus Security?

A: The Stevenson Campus Security Department is comprised of 45 dedicated professionals and 2 supervisors from various public service backgrounds, including the Maryland State Police, Baltimore County Police, Baltimore County Fire and EMT services, and other security disciplines. Security Officers maintain an active presence on campus and are on duty at Owings Mills and Owings Mills North 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Even when the campus is closed, it is protected by security professionals. The Greenspring Campus is served by Security Officers during all hours that the campus is open.

If you wish to contact security, dial “0” on any campus phone. This will put you in contact with the receptionist, who can call security. Emergency phones are easily accessible from all campus buildings and the parking lots.

Q: How can I obtain tickets for commencement?

A: An email will be sent to Commencement participants approximately two months prior to the ceremony with the quantity of guest tickets available and additional instructions. Participants will be given as many guest tickets as possible based on the number of participants and the seating capacity of the gym. Extra tickets are not available. Q: How can I learn more about the wellness services offered to my student?

A: Stevenson’s Wellness Center is dedicated to providing students with a comfortable, personal environment, where we can address and treat their needs through healthcare and counseling.

Q: How can I learn more about the Housing Deposit?

A: For incoming students, you must pay your deposit and fill out a Housing Reservation form to indicate whether you want to be a resident.

For returning students, you must pay your housing deposit which is applied to the fall housing bill. This deposit is paid between February and March.

Please note: There is also a security deposit that is applied to the housing bill and refunded at the end of the academic year if there are no damages or charges. This security deposit is unrelated to the above housing deposit.

Q: How can my student submit a facilities request?

A: Go to Stevenson’s Helpdesk and be sure to select Facilities from the dropdown menu.

Q: What dates and times do the residence halls close and re-open?

A: All residence halls are closed during vacation breaks and during the summer (the Saturday after your final exam).

Students requesting to stay on campus while the residence halls are closed are required to submit a Break Extension form on the Residence Life portal. Residents are expected to vacate their residence hall no later than 8AM the day halls close. Additional information on break extension requests will be emailed to your Stevenson email in late August.

Q: What items should I bring to the residence halls?

A: In general, all of the items that you need on a day-to-day basis (linens, cosmetics, toiletries, clothing), academic support materials (computer, dictionary, high school notes, etc.) are allowed, as well as items that are personally important to you (photos, mementos, posters). For a more comprehensive list of what to bring, view our list of items to bring. Prohibited items are listed near the bottom of that page.

Q: What options are available to my student for leftover SU Flex Dollars?

A: Flex Dollars are debit dollars that can be used at any of the Sodexo operated dining locations on campus (this does not include the bookstore or vending machines), as well as at any off-campus partners. Unused Flex Dollars are non-refundable and automatically roll-over from fall to spring semester.
