Transfer and Second Bachelor's Students

ADMISSION CRITERIA

  • Full-time program for students who do not have a nursing degree as well as those who have a Bachelor’s degree in a field other than nursing.
  • Fall start only for junior level clinical nursing courses.
  • Deadline for completed applications, including all required documents:  February 15.
  • Minimum cumulative and science GPA:  3.0.  For specific criteria, see our Application Guidelines (PDF).
  • Prerequisites can be completed at any U.S. regionally accredited college.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • SU Undergraduate online aapplication with major as "Nursing". No separate nursing application is required.
  • Required documents to be submitted to the Stevenson University Admissions Office:
    • Official transcripts from all universities/colleges attended, including evaluation of any foreign transcripts by WES or AACRAO.
    • Prerequisite Course List form (PDF)
    • Essay on why you want to be a nurse. 
    • Resume.  
    • Three references using the following our Reference Form (PDF)
    • Additional documents that may be required for non-U.S. citizens.

ADMISSION DECISIONS

  • Applications are reviewed by the Admissions Office and the Nursing Department concurrently.
  • Admission to Stevenson University does NOT guarantee acceptance into the nursing major.
  • Nursing program decision letters are mailed after March 1 on a rolling basis.
  • Applicants accepted to Nursing will receive registration and orientation information from both the Admissions Office and from the Nursing Department by mail.
  • Acceptance/Enrollment deadline – May 1.

What can you do with this degree?
Numbering over 1000, graduates of the SU Nursing program are practicing in hospitals and health care settings across the country. Many graduates pursue graduate degrees in nursing and are now functioning in advanced practice roles as nurse practitioners, nurse midwifes, and nurse anesthetists.
