Annual Multicultural Week
This year the week included 2-days of the Tunnel of Oppression, Cultural Competency workshop for faculty and staff, Step Afrika and Urban Foli show, Women in Careers, Unity Forum, Teelin Irish Dancers which all promoted an awareness of multiculturalism.
Brunch For Eight
Established a group from the area colleges and universities that meets on a regular basis to discuss the activities and issues on different college campuses diversity and multicultural issues.
Services on retention, employment, resource for initiatives, scholarships and grants
A forum for students to discuss issues of multiculturalism, diversity, social impartiality and ethnicity.
Training, workshops, seminars
OMA provides various workshops to expand the cultural competency of the Stevenson community i.e. Safe Space, Cultural Competency, Ethics, Storytelling, J.R. Mitchell Book talks
Conduct class sessions on cultural competency and diversity. Previous involvement has been with courses such as Freshmen Seminars, Foundation of Stigma Honors Seminar, Career Development and Professionalism, Elementary Education, and Intercultural Communication classes
Event planning to commemorate people, places and memorable historical moments i.e
9/11 event, Festival of Holidays, Black Male Identity Project, MLK Celebration
Contribute to the enrichment of community involvement by supporting initiatives i.e. Soles for Soul, United Way, National Great Blacks In Wax, Elevate8 Reading Program, Black Male Identity Project
