Minoring in English

With a minor in English at Stevenson University, students have the opportunity to gain additional experience in writing and literature. As an English minor, you will expand your liberal arts background, gain the skills that graduate schools prefer and employers value, and add the designation of “English Minor” to your college transcript.

English minors can choose from a wide variety of literature electives. Genre courses in poetry, short story, drama, and the novel afford students a chance to focus on a specific type of literature. Journalism, magazine writing, public relations writing, and writing for the web are just some of the writing courses available to English minors.  A number of creative writing, poetry, and non-fiction writing classes are also available.

Requirements

A minor in English requires six English courses beyond the two core requirements of ENG 151 and 152. Two-hundred-level English writing skills courses do count toward the minor. In addition, English courses taken for the Humanities distribution requirement count toward an English minor.  At least three of the six courses must be taken at Stevenson University.
