"The best part of being an English major, in my opinion, is the exposure to a wide variety of literature. I was given the chance to read and study amazing works, which in turn helped strengthen my interpreting and analyzing skills."

Designed to focus on skills instead of content, the English program accepts transfer students as a vital part of the SU community and offers credit for a majority of literature and writing courses offered by other colleges and universities. To help transfer students adjust to their new environment, a one semester orientation course is offered that introduces all new majors, to the curricular requirements of the program and to the social and extra-curricular opportunities available to all English majors.
