Biology

Bachelor of Science

For professional scientists and public citizens alike, scientific discoveries continually reshape our knowledge of the world of living things. The field of biology is constantly advancing, and is always in need of well prepared science professionals.

As a biology major at SU, you will receive a strong foundation in the breadth of disciplines that make up the biological sciences. You will build upon this foundation by choosing specialized electives in your field(s) of interest.

By selecting biology courses in areas of your special interest and by taking required courses that provide a broad biological background, you will prepare yourself for careers in industry or research; for admission to graduate school in biology or related fields; for admission to medical, dental, veterinary, physical therapy, or other health professional schools; or, with appropriate education courses, for teaching biology in secondary schools.

A minor is also offered in Biology. Check with your advisor or the Biology Department chair for more information.
