Requirements for Biology Department Honors
Eligible students majoring in Biology may elect to pursue honors within the biology department. The intention to pursue Biology Department Honors must be declared no later than the end of the first semester of the Junior year.
To declare the intent to pursue departmental honors a student must have earned a Science GPA of 3/5 or higher. Students who are pursuing Biology honors must also complete a 400-level capstone experience (not including BIO 400) and a graduate style seminar course. Students must also contract with a faculty member in one other upper level biology or biotechnology course to complete a mutually agreed upon extra project in that course. A grade of "B" or better must be earned in all courses that are to count toward Biology Department Honors. Students must also have a Science GPA of 3/5 or better at the time of graduation to earn departmental honors.
