Office of Multicultural Affairs

The Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) serves as an advocate, sanctuary, and resources for all students, faculty, and staff in effort to increase diversity, cultural awareness, and multiculturalism at Stevenson University. OMA strives to explore areas of interest to students from diverse backgrounds, lifestyles, and beliefs.

What We Do

  • Conduct workshops and seminars to develop awareness of other cultures, and beliefs to contribute to positive dialogue on issues of gender, race, religion and ethnicity.
  • Assist with orientation and retention of students of color.
  • Advise established multicultural groups.
  • Promote dialogue on issues of gender, race, religion and culture.
  • Assesses needs for additional clubs, groups, workshops and events.
  • Works with Academic Support Services to support the success and retention of underrepresented groups.
  • Works with faculty and staff to establish academic, social, and cultural programs that will contribute to university life.
  • Conduct events that will highlight Stevenson University’s commitment to diversity.

Stevenson University's Diversity Statement

The Round Table

The Round Table is a student driven discussion that is held monthly in the Student Activities Conference Room. Discussions range from: civility, racism, current events, communication thought out campus, and diversity.

   

Annual Events

Tunnel of Oppression
A presentation of memorabilia, posters, artwork, and performances to showcase oppression and to encourage a better understanding of the suffering occurring in our global community.

Multicultural Week
Multicultural week showcases our cultural similarities and differences in the spirit of humanity. These activities aim to enlighten inspire, and make all people curious enough to converse with others around them.

9/11 Tributes
Each year we honor those lost on 9/11. On the 10 year anniversary, planted 2,300+ American flags in memory.

MLK Tribute
The annual Martin Luther King Jr. celebrates the life of the Civil Rights Activist and his accomplishments.
